How To Troubleshoot Windows Errors

Errors can occur on your Windows computer due to several different reasons. In this article, we will throw light on troubleshooting some of these errors and learn how to resolve them.

Errors such as the 0x000000ed error may occur during the system startup if the file system on your computer is damaged. File system problems such as these may prevent you from loading Windows or even starting your computer in Safe Mode. If this happens, you may need to perform system repair by using the Windows XP Recovery Console. To start Recovery Console, boot your system with the Windows XP installation disk and when the Welcome to Windows Setup screen appears, press R. If required, select the operating system you want to repair and provide the password for the administrator user. You can perform several system maintenance tasks using the Recovery Console, these include disable or enable various services, read, write, edit and rename system files, format drives, run hard disk checks and many more. So, if your 0x000000ed error occurs due to a damaged hard disk, you may run chkdsk /r command to check for and fix hard disk problems.

Another common occurrence of computer errors is soon after you install a new program. These errors, such as the 0x800705aa error occur when there is a problem with the program you installed. The best way to resolve such issues is to uninstall the program that caused the error in first place. To do this, you may use the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility, or a good third-party program uninstaller. It is also recommended that after the program removal process is complete, you use a good registry tool to thoroughly scan the registry and remove any left behind orphaned entries. If you need to use this program, it is recommended that you contact the manufacturer of the program for a possible solution.

Many times, issues may occur if files of a program currently installed on your computer are damaged. For example, you may see the 0x800106ba error message while updating Windows Defender if there is an issue with its registered DLL files and other related program files. To fix problems with tools, such as Windows Defender that are installed using the Windows Installer tool, you may first use the Add or Remove Programs utility to remove the program and then use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the Windows Installer configuration files and registry entries related to this program. As recommended earlier, even here you may use a reliable registry cleaner tool to clean your registry. After you have completely removed the program causing the error, restart your PC, and then reinstall the program. Before performing the installation, ensure that you have the latest installation files on your computer.

In addition to these issues, registry problems, malware infections and hard disk problems may also cause many different types of Windows errors. To prevent registry problems, you may regularly repair and clean your registry with the help of a registry tool. To prevent malware infections, you must regularly perform full system scans using antimalware tools, such as antivirus and antispyware. Last but not least, regularly use Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter tools to clean and defrag your hard disk and maintain it at its optimal performance.
